My name is Luke. I am a writer amongst other things.
A few months back, I decided to self publish my first novel after having a revelation regarding digital distribution for e-readers. With my background in computer graphics, I can adapt anything I write and sell it on Amazon without any cost to myself, other than time. Why not, I said.
Later, I came to learn via a post on Freakanomics that through createspace.com, another Amazon sponsored entity, I could self publish in print form as well without any cost to myself. That really lit my fire, and two weeks later the final draft is hours away from completion.
Of course, as a MBA, I had to go and complicate things with branding, a marketing plan, and all the other stuff that goes along with the baggage that too much education provides. I come up with a catchy name, make sure the appropriate blog and twitter names are also available, and there you have it.
So what does this have to do with anything?
Very little, actually. Self inflating biographical nonsense is both amusing and cathartic.
For those of you who were unaware of these tools to allow for self publishing, here are some links. The dawn of mass independent publishing is being born to the weeping of soon-to-be-former Borders executives.
